There is nothing that makes dental patients and dentists happiest than for you to have healthy, strong teeth. Seeing this actually makes your dentist happier than discovering dental problems. Some patients even goes to a dentist more often than their medical physician.

Your primary dentist has the responsibility to detect dental problems as early as possible. This task is not limited to the teeth. He also check your tongue, gums, jaw and neck. He also needs to discreetly observe your health as a whole, like your head, sinuses, skin and glands. He checks if there is anything out of the normal. He checks if your mouth is dry, if there is presence of bacteria, if there are lesions that look suspicious, if the color and texture of your gums are okay, if there are mouth ulcers or if they’re sore. During check ups it is important that you tell your dentist if you feel any discomfort or if you notice any change. This will help them make early detection and give an accurate diagnosis.

Preventive dentistry should not be underestimated. Did you know that there are over 200 known oral diseases? As stated earlier your dentist has the responsibility to detect if you are starting to develop one of them.  Oral problems sometimes indicate that something else is wrong in your body.

With this said, you can now see how important a bi-annual visit could be.Patients should take oral tests seriously.  It can detect a disease in its early stage and save you from suffering from a more serious dental problem.
